A customer may assume that transferring a token also transfers a service benefit associated with holding it. A provider may instead recognise a named participant or an already confirmed booking. These are different relationships. ALFA's utility design should explain where token possession matters and where a separate service agreement determines who can actually use the benefit.
Define the relevant moment
Eligibility might be assessed when a request is made, when a booking is confirmed or at another stated point. The policy should explain what happens if the customer's holdings change afterwards. Without that rule, the provider and customer may reach different conclusions about a valid booking even though both are relying on accurate records from different moments in the journey.
Separate a booking from a balance
A confirmed service can carry participant-specific conditions that do not follow ordinary token transfers. Training prerequisites or venue registration may require the provider's approval before substitution. The purchase page should make this clear without implying that every service is non-transferable. The important point is to describe the actual arrangement rather than infer it from the technical behaviour of the token.
Provide a legitimate change route
Where substitution is permitted, the customer needs an authorised process to request it. A private agreement between two users may not be sufficient for the provider to recognise a new participant. The system should preserve the original booking and record the approved change, avoiding a situation in which two people believe they can claim the same service entitlement.
Keep the promise understandable
For ALFA, transferability should be a commercial explanation attached to each relevant utility. It is not answered by a general statement that tokens can move between wallets. Clear rules protect customers and providers by showing exactly which relationship changes, which remains fixed and what approval is needed when someone wants another person to receive the service originally arranged.
