A launch campaign can attract attention that does not translate into lasting service demand. The second visit asks a different question: did the first experience create a reason to return? For ALFA's utility ambition, repeat use is useful only when it refers to an identifiable service outcome rather than another movement between wallet addresses.

Follow the service relationship

A returning customer may use a different wallet or purchase through an employer. The measurement should focus on an appropriately managed customer or order relationship rather than treating every address as a person. At the same time, reporting should avoid collecting unnecessary information merely to produce a more flattering retention figure for an external presentation.

Respect the natural interval

Some services are used weekly; others only annually or when a specific need arises. Comparing them through the same monthly retention measure can produce misleading conclusions. The reporting window should reflect the service's normal cycle. An infrequent but valuable training purchase may be commercially stronger than repeated low-value actions encouraged solely by a short promotional campaign.

Separate assisted and organic return

A customer who returns after another subsidy provides different evidence from one who returns under ordinary terms. Both can be useful, but their economics differ. Recording the offer associated with each order helps the team understand whether the service itself is attractive and whether the acquisition approach remains affordable for the provider over time.

Look beyond a single percentage

Repeat purchase, completed delivery and customer resolution should be considered together. A high return rate can coexist with an overworked support team or poor margins. The strongest ALFA utility story would show an enduring service relationship that works for both the customer and the operating business, using measures that preserve the differences between their respective experiences.
